Institute for Competitiveness & Prosperity
A Silver Level Sponsor, the Institute for Competitiveness & Prosperity is an independent, not-for-profit organization that deepens public understanding of macro and microeconomic factors behind Ontario’s economic progress. The Institute is funded by the Government of Ontario and is mandated to share our research findings directly with the public. The Institute serves as the research arm of the Task Force on Competitiveness, Productivity and Economic Progress.
The mandate of the Task Force is to measure and monitor Ontario’s competitiveness, productivity, and economic progress compared to other provinces and US states and to report to the public on a regular basis. In the 2004 Budget, the Government asked the Task Force to incorporate innovation and commercialization issues in its mandate.
It is the aspiration of the Institute and the Task Force to have a significant influence in increasing Ontario’s competitiveness, productivity and capacity for innovation to help ensure continued success in the creation of good jobs, increased prosperity, and a higher quality of life for all Ontarians. The Institute seeks breakthrough findings from its research and propose significant innovations in public policy to stimulate businesses, governments, and educational institutions to take action.
The Institute is also the Canadian partner institute of the World Economic Forum.
